1. Tell me when in your career as a truck driver you came up with on ​​creating truckeronroad.com?

A few years ago I noted all good parking lots with infrastructure for truck drivers, and one of my colleagues suggested I place them somewhere on the server. I also sent interesting locations to me by other colleagues, later a plug with truck bans came. This exchange of information between several drivers from the company in which we worked together. It was a ride with a Polish carrier, so the car parks were from all over Europe, also from Russia and Ukraine. Unfortunately, because of a Google Maps programmer's error, after it updated the plugin, everything was lost ... The general idea of ​​creating the site was to share information with other truckers.

The site is still a hobby in free time, you know ... each of the drivers somehow tries to organize their free time on the road. Some prefer to drink with their colleagues on the route, others run, walk, go to the pools in nearby towns, etc. ... I also like reading messages. Notebooks now accompany drivers in most trucks. They serve us as a form of relaxation in free time to watch an interesting movie or cabaret, read the latest news on what is happening in the country, and above all as contact with the family via instant messengers regardless of where in Europe we are.

2. What were the first sections/sections / in the site menu?

In the beginning, there were parking lots, it was about 5000 interesting locations throughout Europe. It is a pity because for me and my colleagues it took some time to collect so many interesting pins with exact coordinates.

3. Tell me what the portal looks like today and what is the main content?

The site is still a hobby, a place where I like to share interesting information with other colleagues.

4. A few words about yourself.

What can I write a lot :) I leave my private life for my family? Just a husband, father, one hundred of thousands of professional drivers traversing European roads every day.

5. What are your favorite routes in Europe?

I like to go where I haven't been before :) When it comes to the most liked; I think Spain and Sweden.

6. Have you thought about a trip around the USA? Do you have any route you would like to cross eg route 66?

Maybe someday there will be time for that. There are a lot of interesting places in the USA. Besides, I'd love to visit my family. I used to think about working as a trucker in Canada, but unfortunately, the contract of one company with China did not work out and I gave up further efforts. Maybe someday ... You never know where life will lead us :)

7. Your favorite beer is:

Polish local breweries only. Since I was in contact with this industry a few years ago as a food tank driver, I have been trying to avoid group beers. On my site, I also described this topic some time ago. The FMCG industry is a very intriguing, sometimes even shocking and interesting topic.

8. Which European country is an example of good treatment for drivers' trucks?

There are pros and cons everywhere. Each driver has his favorite destinations where he travels peacefully. I like Finland, Sweden, Hungary, Spain, Ireland and Switzerland.

8. Topic not liked by truck drivers or fines. Tell about your supervisory mandate.

800 euros bail in the Czech Republic just before the Polish border a few years ago. The Czechs insisted I had committed an offense, which of course was not (they claimed that after leaving the ferry I drove 8 hours without interruption). The transport company paid the deposit, after 3 months the money was recovered but without lawyers. Unfortunately, transport is treated as a "milk cow" throughout Europe. Bails and forced fines are commonplace. Often the inspection, once it stops the driver, is looking for "something" by force just to find an excuse to impose a ticket. River theme ... The worst is in Spain, France, Lithuania, and Hungary. Our inspectors are not so bad at all, a big plus for them they finally applied to the punishment of foreign road pirates (Lithuania, Russia, Ukraine) as well as the condition of their trucks. Ukraine is currently sharply pushing us police statistics in the country, many Polish drivers work abroad. Such transport areas as Łuków, Żory, Poznań, Kraków are mostly drivers from the East, often (horrifically) with purchased licenses where they only gain experience in Poland.

9. Have you had the "pleasure" of crossing Calais? Your opinion on the Brexit topic?

I could speak for a long time here. I was in Calais for the last time in 2016. Just like all this mess has been going on for several months. The company where I pulled the tanker because of this, among others, gave up that route. In short, the pathology and passivity of the French authorities, but also the English who only hope that the driver entering the UK has immigrants on a semi-trailer. In the situation of control in the UK, I treat drivers imposed fines of several thousand pounds and criminal cases and like criminals, immigrants get a blanket and a warm meal on the spot ... full pathology.

As for Brexit, this is a moral decision by the British authorities. In the long run, it will definitely be good for them. At present, the European Union is a disassembled bureaucratic strange creation, the institution which was established many years ago at the moment is pointless on many issues ... later this could lead to other countries leaving the Union. I should base the work of this institution on strengthening mutual cooperation rather than interference and the development of bureaucracy as it is at the moment. Another problem is political correctness ... but that's another story :)

9. What problems do trucker's face on the roads? What should change?

There would be many things to change. It is difficult. Basic problems? Theft in parking lots, lack of parking spaces, treating the driver as a necessary evil in logistics centers and companies. And if not for us, nothing would be in stores. It is enough to stop the transport for 4 days ... people do not realize that thanks to professional drivers, business, couriers in their local store or supermarket there is fresh goods in the morning, parcels ordered online are often the other day, despite being ordered at another end of the country ... This work requires many sacrifices, such as separation from family, time pressure, stress and the most important but often avoided topic in the media ... health problems related to the work of a professional driver. In addition, there are a lot of stereotypes associated with the industry that are published in the media, especially on the Internet, most times the exception is the rule. But we can't help it, these are the side effects of globalization, the money race against money where the content goes to the background to give way to cheap sensation.

10. 20 years back, the driver's job did not look like today, it was not mobile phones, forwarder-driver communication systems, and modern navigation. What do you think the driver's work will look like in 20 years?

Telematics is the future of the industry. This is a fairly complex topic. Transport media compete in describing the industry in various ways. Sometimes these are interesting topics, sometimes sucked out of the finger of nonsense, just to click and read so that the cash register for the ads match. For automation, I think it will be rather an addition and facilitation for the driver and entrepreneurs in the coming years. The strong progress of automation in transport is hindered by many factors depending on the country, e.g. infrastructure, security, theft on the road, bureaucracy ... could be calculated in this way. People who make interesting prospects for the coming years are rather theoreticians in the TSL industry.

11. Would you like to add something?

 I wish my colleagues first health and perseverance in our hard work, as many returns as trips. In contrast, politicians have fewer manners and greater interest in transport problems. The progressing computerization of the TSL industry will be useless if there is no improvement in the safety of drivers, where, as we know, more and more people give up their profession. The complexity of the problems of the TSL industry may show that automation in transport will be only a big problem where the guarantee of delivering goods on time to the customer will be efficient road infrastructure and a guarantee of cargo security.
