Parking in Rotterdam has increased by 210 parking spaces.
I remember a few years ago I brought my first container to maasvlakte, it was a container from the port of Hamburg with unloading in Benelux and depose an empty container in Maasvlakte. In order to enter the terminal in order to drop off the container, I needed to obtain a CARGO CARD, which allows for safe check in and entry to the container terminals and secure parking spots in the Port of Rotterdam. During my first visit to the Maasvlakte Plaza car park, I was very positively surprised by the automated CHECK IN process. Cameras located in front of the entrance to the parking lot read the registration number of the truck put the cargo card into the T-shirt, and on the touch screen, I select the appropriate ADR type and trailer size options. A video showing the new advantages of Maasvlakte Plaza parking can be viewed on youtube at this link https://youtu.be/0QHWrDBF38I. Truck drivers had a problem with finding a free parking space after 8 p.m., therefore additional 210 parking spaces will solve the problems related to safe parking and working time of drivers on the tachograph.

Ronald Paul, COO of the Port of Rotterdam Authority: “This concept sets a new standard for secure parking: the truck stop is safe, clean, offers high-quality facilities for the drivers and their vehicles and lies in the direct vicinity of a number of large terminals and distribution centres. It improves the accessibility of the port of Rotterdam itself and raises logistics efficiency in the port area to new levels.”
